Tuesday's wire moves fast: a stadium-sized tease from the South, fresh kings and queens on the Billboard airplay charts, and a Top Dawg finale going down tonight. Here's The Wire.
Rod Wave Is Thinking Stadiums — With NBA YoungBoy
Rod Wave has the timeline dreaming big. Over the weekend, chatter about a joint tour with NBA YoungBoy caught fire online, and the Florida singer turned the volume all the way up with a five-word response: "I told yb we going stadium." As of September 28, no dates, venues, or ticket details have surfaced — this is a tease, not an announcement — but the pairing makes sense. The two have genuine history on wax, including "Home Ain't Home" from YoungBoy's The Last Slimeto and "Better Than Ever" on Decided 2, and both command some of the most ride-or-die fanbases in Southern hip-hop. The timing adds weight: YoungBoy told Open Thoughts with Funny Marco he only has "one or two" albums left in him and plans to tour "one more time throughout my whole life." If a joint run happens, it could be the last big one. Sources: [The Source], [Baller Alert].
Chart Check: Cardi B's "Ah Ha" Takes Rhythmic, Rap Airplay Gets a New Leader
Cardi B's victory lap keeps going. "Ah Ha" jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 on Billboard's Rhythmic Airplay chart in just its seventh week, giving her a 12th No. 1 on the ranking — a third of them landing in the last 13 months. The single is down to No. 43 on the Hot 100 after debuting at No. 25, but it also climbed to No. 2 on Rap Airplay and No. 8 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. Over on Rap Airplay, the chart got its first new leader in 11 weeks: Dave's "Raindance" featuring Tems dethroned Yung Miami's "Spend Dat" — the first Rap Airplay No. 1 for the UK rapper and the second for Tems. And the album-sales grind continues: in week 39, Drake's ICEMAN held No. 8 on the Billboard 200 with 34,372 equivalent units, Jhené Aiko's Westside Whimsy sat at No. 9 with 33,944, while SZA's SOS (No. 15) and Rod Wave's Don't Look Down (No. 16) stayed locked in the Top 20. Isaiah Rashad Closes the First Leg Tonight — Then Goes Global
Isaiah Rashad wraps the North American leg of Lil Sunny's Awful Road Trip tonight with The Anniversary Show at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California — a one-night celebration of all four of his projects, from Cilvia Demo to this year's It's Been Awful. The run closes a comeback chapter that followed a five-year gap between albums. And Rashad isn't done: he already announced leg two of the world tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Sun's Tirade — the certified-platinum album (debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200) featuring the Kendrick Lamar collaboration "Wat's Wrong." The second leg opens November 4 in Portland, hits Camp Flog Gnaw in Los Angeles on November 15, then stretches through South Africa, the UK, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia, finishing March 7, 2027 in Perth — marking his first performances in South Africa and his first headline shows in Australia and New Zealand.
