31 Weeks at the Top
Bruno Mars' "I Just Might" has tied the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. On the chart dated October 10, the single logged its 31st week atop the list, matching the mark set by Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "Luther," which led for 31 nonconsecutive weeks across 2024 and 2025. No other song has spent longer at No. 1 on the chart, which Billboard has run since 1958. For its record-tying frame, the single registered 5.3 million official streams, 51.9 million in airplay audience, and 1,000 song sales in the United States for the tracking week of September 25 to October 1, according to Luminate.
The company Mars is keeping is rarefied. "Luther" itself broke the record set just months earlier by Lamar's "Not Like Us," which logged 22 weeks at No. 1. Behind them sit SZA's "Kill Bill" (21 weeks), Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" with Billy Ray Cyrus (20), and Drake's "One Dance" (18) — making "I Just Might" the only 2026 release in the chart's all-time top tier.
One More Week to Own It Outright
Mars released "I Just Might" on January 9 as the lead single from his fourth studio album, The Romantic, which followed on February 27. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Mars one of the only solo male artists with 10 or more No. 1s on that chart, alongside Drake, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder. It reached No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in late January, though its run at the top has not been continuous.
The tie may not last long. If "I Just Might" stays at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart dated October 17 — which reflects streaming, airplay, and sales from October 2 to October 8 — it takes the record alone with a 32nd week. Away from the charts, Mars has announced 2027 stadium dates in Australia and New Zealand with Tyla.
