New Music Friday arrived with weight this week. An Atlanta trap architect, a Harlem star reopening his vault and an R&B singer stepping into the genre she grew up on all put new records into the world on Friday, October 16 — and each release tells a different story about where its artist is headed next.
Gucci Mane Returns With Against All Odds
Gucci Mane released Against All Odds on Friday, October 16, a 17-track album running about 52 minutes, according to its Apple Music listing cited by CashIn Ent. HotNewHipHop lists just three guest appearances across the project: Summer Walker, OJ Da Juiceman and Ice Davis, Gucci Mane's son.
The album follows Episodes, his 2025 album and memoir, and carries the April single Crash Dummy into the tracklist. Its October 16 arrival also lands one day before 10/17, the date tied to Gucci Mane's 1017 label name. With only three features, the record keeps the focus squarely on Gucci Mane himself, while the guest list connects Atlanta's R&B present, its trap past and his own family.
A$AP Rocky Opens the Disc 2 Rollout

A$AP Rocky brought a vault record to streaming for the first time on Friday, October 16. Shroom Clouds, featuring reggie and Jeremih, is the lead single for Don't Be Dumb (Disc 2), according to HotNewHipHop. Billboard, via KJWL, notes that Rocky had performed the song live as far back as 2021 and 2022 under an earlier title.
HotNewHipHop reports that no release date for Disc 2 has been announced yet. Billboard reports that Rocky expects the disc to gather songs tied to his different alter egos, with revised verses alongside previously unheard material. The original Don't Be Dumb arrived in January and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 123,000 album-equivalent units, according to Billboard.
K. Michelle Makes Her Country Debut

Memphis R&B singer K. Michelle released Jesus & Whiskey on Friday, October 16 — her first country album and her seventh studio album overall, according to The Tennessean and HitsCulture. The nine-track project was produced by Kristian Bush of Sugarland, and The Tennessean reports that it was recorded with a live band, putting her voice and storytelling at the center.
She takes the album straight to the stage tonight, Friday, October 16, at The Fillmore New Orleans. HitsCulture reports that the show opens a three-night release weekend, moving to House of Blues Dallas on October 17 and House of Blues Houston on October 18, with each set pairing the new songs alongside favorites from her R&B catalog. According to the label, fans who buy the album at a venue get access to a meet-and-greet.
